What is the Seller Ratings Widget?

Our Seller Ratings Widget is a website integration that displayreviews and ratings that customers have submitted during the Bizrate Insights Online Buyer Survey, both at the point of sale and following fulfillment.

The widget works in tandem with our Online Buyer Survey and helps create a consistent representation of your brand by displaying reviews in multiple places. Comments from the Online Buyer Survey are automatically syndicated to Google, Yahoo, and Bing for participation in their seller ratings programs. The Seller Ratings Widget pulls those same reviews and displays them directly on your site, giving shoppers the opportunity to look through verified customers experiences while considering whether or not to make a purchase.

The Seller Ratings Widget displays reviews that contain both an OSAT (Overall Satisfaction) Score and a comment. The overall score is represented by stars. We use a 1-10 scale represented by a 5 star scale in the widget. Each point on the scale is represented by half of a star. For example: 9 points is equal to 4.5 stars, 6 points is equal to 3 stars, and so on. The default setting will display reviews that contain an OSTAT score of 8 or above, but your business can set your own OSAT threshold.

How does the Seller Ratings Widget work?

The Seller Ratings Widget pullverbatim customer comments and ratings in real-time as they’re submitted through the Online Buyer Survey and stored in your VitalSigns account.

The widget populates the 20 most recent reviews and displays up to a maximum of three comments at a time. Depending on the widget’s size and placement on your site, fewer reviews may be displayed at once. The visitor can see more reviews by clicking on either side of the widget.

The Seller Ratings Widget is easy to install and can be placed on multiple pages on your websiteWe have outlined step-by-step instructions for the most common implementation methods such as adding via Google Tag Manager, static HTML, and CMS hosted sites in our Seller Ratings Widget instruction post

Why use the Seller Ratings Widget?

The Seller Ratings Widget can help your business manage its online reputation with current customers and prospects. If your business has experienced shipping and supply chain issues due to COVID-19, the Seller Ratings Widget can help highlight how your business is handling these concerns by displaying relevant customer reviews and ratings. For example, if you’re dealing with shipping delays, it can ease the minds of shoppers to see a customer review about how they were given a coupon for 10% off their next purchase because of a shipping delay. That simple review could help reduce site abandonment and encourage a shopper to complete a purchase.

In addition to helping ease customer concerns, the Seller Ratings Widget can also help your business in these three ways.

1. Establish trust.

The Seller Ratings Widget amplifies the power of your customer feedback by using verbatim ratings and reviews as a form of user-generated content (UGC). UGC is invaluable in building trust because it’s honest and authentic, both of which are key to creating content that customers value. In fact, recent studies show that 93% of customers think UGC is helpful when making a purchasing decision. When your website visitors see verified customer reviews and ratings, they aren’t just taking your word that you have a great product—they are listening to an objective third party which will make them feel more confident about shopping with you and associating with your brand.

2. Build customer loyalty.

A recent report from the Spiegel Research Center found that 95% of shoppers read an online review before making a purchase. Since you know that customers are going to search for reviews, cut out the middleman and provide them on your site. This has two benefits.

First, it removes the chance of shoppers finding results that paint an unflattering, and potentially untrue portrait of the customer experience. Second, by hosting reviews directly on your site, you’re saving shoppers time by eliminating the extra step of conducting research about your brand, products, and services. And by saving your potential buyers time, you are improving their experience and are on your way to gaining their loyalty.

3. Promote transparency.

According to Sprout Social“86% of Americans believe transparency from businesses is more important than ever before. That is because transparency actively promotes customer satisfaction with your brand. The Seller Ratings Widget delivers on visitors’ expectation for you to be transparent. By proactively sharing verified customer reviews and ratings about your company, you’re demonstrating to your potential buyers that you are being open and that you can be trusted.
